James Windsor Obituary courtesy of Fresno Bee
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grand-father, and Friend to many passed
away on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 12:01 a.m. Jim was born in Quemado, New Mexico,
on January 10, 1928. Like most men of his day, when he was old enough, he joined
the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII and the Korean wars. While serving
in Korea he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart. Jim returned to Albuquerque,
where he met and married the love of his life, June Dean. Together they had two sons,
James and Joseph. Jim attended the University of New Mexico and received a B.S. Degree
in Civil Engineering and moved his young family to California to begin his career
working for the State of California. After almost 40 years he retired from state
employment. Over the last nine years he was active in military and veterans organizations
in his community, He was a life member of VFW post #8900 and The Military Order of
The Purple Heart, and Association of the United States Army. He was particularly
driven to help support our troops whom are deployed around the world, in the service
of their country and freedom. He helped establish and then ran the military assistance
program for the VFW, to mail packages to those deployed around the globe. Jim spent
his life pre-pared to help anyone he could. Always ready to lend a hand, ear, word
of
encouragement or a hug of epic proportions. His friends were many, his enemies few
and his love endless. He passed from this life as he entered it, peacefully and surrounded
by people who loved him. He is survived by June, his Bride of 56 years; his sons,
James and his wife Connie, and Joseph and his wife Sheila, grandchildren, Gabriel,
Jennifer, Joseph, Kennith, Danielle, and Lee; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Arron,
