Established in 1985, the 509th Military Band is a group of approximately 45 musicians who donate their time and talents to present quality concerts with an extremely broad audience appeal.  Recognized by the Congress of the United States of America, the 509th Military Band was recently awarded a special Congressional Commendation for its pride, pageantry, musicianship, and outstanding service to the community.

Their “Sounds of Freedom” repertoire includes orchestral transcriptions, traditional band literature, show tunes, movie soundtracks, and marches, as well as a wealth of popular and contemporary music.  The band maintains an active performance schedule, presenting quarterly concerts and appearing throughout the year before audiences of diverse backgrounds.

Under the musical direction of Monte C. Gmur, the 509th Military Band is honored to enjoy the sponsorship and support of the Central California Chapter of the Association of the United States Army.  It is based at American Legion Federal Post 509 in Fresno, California.

The Band is available to support community events; Veterans activities; and local RC ceremonies such as Changes of Command, Retirements, Award Ceremonies, mobilizations/demobilizations; and other special events.  For more information call Band Manager Chief Warrant Officer C4 (Hon) Tony Lallo, at: (559) 224-0522.
